Big Week On Deck For Concordia
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Golden Bears (23-18, 8-10 NSIC) have two big games tomorrow as they fight for their post season lives in the final week of the season. Concordia is in the ninth spot in the NSIC but has six games this week that provide a chance to move up. Sunday's games against Minnesota Duluth were canceled and no make up will be made. Tuesday afternoon Concordia has a double header match up against Southwest Minnesota State (19-17, 10-19 NSIC) in Marshall. The double header provides a chance to get back in the NSIC Tournament race. SMSU, U-Mary, Wayne State and Northern State are all within two games of the Golden Bears.

The Mustangs come into the game with a similar 3-7 record over their past ten games. The lost twice to Minnesota State this past weekend after sweeping St. Cloud State last Wednesday. Offensively they are led by a pair of hitters, Kris Penick and Christin Borowiak. Penick leads the team with a .391 average on the year with 45 hits, 44 singles. Borowiak is more a power threat as she hits .370 on the year with 10 doubles, three triples and three homeruns.

Their pitching staff is led by Chelsey Evans who is 10-5 on the year in 114 innings pitched. She had a 2.15 ERA and has given up just four home runs on the year. The Mustangs pitching staff has only given up 10 home runs on the year, their offense has only given hit nine themselves which means extra base hits could be at a minimum tomorrow afternoon.

It is important games for the Mustangs as they also compete for a spot in the NSIC Tournament next week in Rochester. Concordia will welcome Minnesota, Crookston and MSU Moorhead to Carlander Field this weekend to wrap up the regular season. Saturday will be senior day as CU recognizes Katie Anderson, Calli Brennan and Erin Tjornhom.
