GAME 1

Concordia drew a two out walk in the top of the first but failed to put a runner in scoring position. The Mavericks went downin order in their half of the first inning. The Golden Bears drew a walk and got a single by Missie Feuerbach (Iowa City, Iowa) to start the top of the second inning. Three straight outs followed as Concordia left runners on second and third to end the inning. MSU was successful in their half of the second inning getting a lead off walk and a pair of one out singles to plate a pair of runs.

In the top of the third inning CU was unable to respond going down in order with a pair of strikeouts and ground out to first. Minnesota State picked up a one out walk and then another walk with two down. Kelly Wood has the bit hit in the inning sending a ball over the fence and putting MSU up 5-0 after three.

The Golden Bears all so went down in order in the top of the fourth inning. Ashley Kluever (Cottage Grove, Minn.) got into trouble in the bottom of the fourth inning as she walked a batter and then hit one with one out. With the bases loaded Kluever induced a fielder's choice cutting the runner down at home and then getting a pop up to left field ending the inning.

Cassie Bertlesen (Oakdale, Minn.) picked up CU's second hit of the game in the top of the fifth inning but that was all CU would get in the inning. The Mavericks went down in order for the first time since the bottom of the first inning as the score remained 5-0 after five.

For the first time all game CU picked up a lead off single to start an inning as Alicia Meiser (Circle Pines, Minn.) singled up the middle. Erin Tjornhom (Eagan, Minn.) then drew a walk to put runners on first and second after Meiser had stole a base. The threat continued when Brynn Larsen (Oconto Falls, Wis.) singled up the middle to load up the bases with one down. The threat was over when a fielder's choice allowed the runner to be cut down at home and then another one as the inning would end. The same would not be the case for Minnesota State pushed across a run in the bottom of the sixth.

GAME 2

The top of the first inning went down like it did in the first game as CU went down in order in the top of the first. Stephanie Kappes (Circle Pines, Minn.) gave up a two out RBI single MSU took an early lead in game two. Concordia again went down in order in the top of the second inning and so did MSU as the game stayed 1-0 in favor of the Mavericks.

Minnesota State's Courtney McKelvogue put CU down in order to keep her no hitter alive through three innings. Kappes gave up a two out homer to right field putting CU up 2-0 after three full innings. The top of the Concordia lineup could not come up with a hit in the fourth inning as well as the no hit bid was still alive for McKelvogue.

The Mavericks opened up the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. The rally started with a one out throwing error and then a single thought the left side. After a wild pitch Abby Sonner singled to center scoring a pair of runners. After another single there was a fielder's choice and then another single which plated a run, making it 5-0. Lori Morris double to right center as Concordia fell behind 7-0 after four complete innings.

Missie Feuerbach broke up the no hitter with a two out single to center but a strike out followed and the game went to the bottom of the fifth inning. The Mavericks put runners on first and second as they tried to end the game early but a 6-3 double play got Kappes out of the jam. Concordia again went down in order in the top of the sixth as CU had just one hit through six innings of play. The Mavericks did end the game in the bottom of the sixth inning when two out single through left side brought home run from second base.

Katie Anderson's (Mendota Heights, Minn.) bid for the career stolen base mark would have to wait as she failed to reach base in the double header. She remains tied with Natalie Mast with 101 stolen bases in her career.
