Mid Week Contest in Mankato
ST. PAUL, Minn. - With just at dozen games left in the season, Concordia (22-15, 7-7 NSIC) will play their second to last mid week double header tomorrow in Mankato, Minnesota to take on #11 Minnesota State Mankato. The Mavericks beat Concordia twice earlier this season in a non conference double header at the Vadnais Heights Dome. WEEKLY RELEASE | LIVE STATS

Concordia is 2-7 against ranked teams this year but have lost four of those games by two runs or less. The Golden Bears lost a heartbreaker 12-10 to #22 Augustana when the lost 10-9 in the seventh inning and ended up falling 12-10 in eight innings. It was the first game of the season Concordia lost when leading headed to the seventh inning.

All season long the Golden Bears have been stealing bases at a high rate, currently the rank 20th in the nation in stolen bases and are 72-77 on the year. Their 93.5% success rate is the highest in the nation amongst teams with at least 33 stolen bases on the year. Katie Anderson (Mendota Heights, Minn.) has 101 stolen bases her career which is tied for the all time school record with Natalie Mast. She needs just one more steal in the final dozen games to set a new mark. Currently she ranks 25th in the nation in stolen bases, she is joined on the list by Alicia Meiser (Circle Pines, Minn.), 32nd and Erin Tjornhom (Eagan, Minn.), 55th. Tjornhom was named the NSIC Player of the Week yesterday for her efforts last week.

The Mavericks use pitching and defense to win games. They are second in the nation with a .979 fielding and tenth in the nation with a 1.50 ERA. MSU is not bad at the plate either as they hit .307 and slug .472, they average 2.0 steals per game. Minnesota State beat CU 10-5 and 2-0 in their meeting earlier this season but CU was able to get to their ace Kendra Huettle in the first game.
