ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia University women's basketball team will continue NSIC action this weekend against Upper Iowa on Friday and Winona State on Saturday at the Gangelhoff Center. The Golden Bears (2-3, 0-1 NSIC) will host the Peacocks (3-4, 0-1 NSIC) on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. in their first home conference bout. Saturday's game against the Warriors (7-1, 1-0 NSIC) will tip off at 4:00 p.m.
 
Both games will be broadcast online with live stats and a video feed via the links above.
 
LAST TIME OUT… The Golden Bears opened NSIC play last Saturday, dropping a road test 85-66 at Minnesota State. Concordia shot 24-for-56 from the floor (42.9%). At the charity stripe, CU converted on 11-of-19 attempts and hauled in 35 in rebounds.
 
Anika Whiting (Ashland, Wis.) paced the Bears with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, including 5-for-7 from the free throw line, four rebounds and a block. Rachel Hansen (Eagan, Minn.) totaled a team-high seven rebounds, five assists and three steals, and added nine points, shooting 3-for-7 from the field.
 
THE SERIES… Concordia and Upper Iowa will compete on the court for the 16th time Friday. The Bears leads the all-time series 14-1. Saturday's game against Winona will mark the 36th meeting between the Bears and Warriors as CU leads the all-time series 24-11.
 
LAST SEASON AT THE GC… Concordia convincingly beat Upper Iowa 89-53 on February 3, 2012. Carissa Wolyniec (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored a game-high 21 points – all from three-point range – leading the Bears to shoot 50.9% from the field. Whitney Kieffer and Jennifer Herrick each scored 12 points for the Peacocks, while the team shot 30.6% from the floor.
 
Winona State defeated CU 60-52 on February 4, 2012. Whiting led the Bears with 10 points, while the Warriors were led by Michelle McDonald and Michelle Tobin with 11 points each. The Bears shot 27.3% from the field (15-55) as the Warriors shot 39.3% (22-56).
