ST. PAUL, Minn. -
The Concordia-St. Paul men's basketball team (1-3, 0-1 NSIC) hosts a pair of NSIC South Division opponents this weekend, entertaining Upper Iowa on Friday at 8 p.m. and #18 Winona State on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Gangelhoff Center.

Last weekend, Upper Iowa topped Winona State, then ranked #9 in the country, at McCown Gymnasium in Winona, Minn. in an early season upset.

The Peacocks are out to prove the win was not an upset as they'll remain on the road at Gangelhoff Center where they haven't won since 2008 with three straight losses at Concordia's home gym. Concordia is 11-6 all-time against Upper Iowa and 5-2 at home (5-1 at Gangelhoff Center). Concordia has won the last four meetings with UIU and 11 of the last 14 dating back to 2004.

The Warriors are coming off a tough loss to Upper Iowa last weekend at home and face a tough Friday night test in Mankato, Minn. against Minnesota State. They'll then travel to St. Paul where they have never lost to the Golden Bears in 15 all-time meetings in St. Paul (14-0 at Gangelhoff Center). WSU is 37-2 all-time against Concordia but CU's two wins are in recent history, in 2008 and in 2011 in Winona.

Kelly Boe breaks down the opposition on Golden Bear Insider with Dan Flanagan:

On Upper Iowa: "They're kind of a throw back team, not a lot of isolation on offense. They rely on cuts, hand-offs and two-man games. They run it well and have been playing together for a while and that confidence shows up with how they move the ball. We can't get caught chasing - we have to dictate defensively instead of reacting. They're tough, obviously, they beat Winona at Winona last weekend."

On Winona State: "Winona is coming off a loss at home to Upper Iowa and now goes to Mankato (Friday) and then comes here (Saturday) - it's a big weekend for them especially coming off a loss in their NSIC opener."
