Box Score MADISON, Wis. – The Concordia University women's basketball team lost to the University of Wisconsin 60-47 on Sunday afternoon in its final exhibition game of the preseason. The Golden Bears now head into the regular season with their first game at Michigan Tech on November 10.
Jodi Batzel (Rochester, Minn.) led the Bears, going 5-for-11 from the field for 14 points, while also leading the team with nine rebounds.
Anika Whiting (Ashland, Wis.) reached double figure points as well, tallying 13 on 4-of-14 shooting from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.
Concordia trailed by just six points (29-23) at halftime to the Big Ten opponent, but pedestrian shooting in both halves didn't allow the Bears to overcome the deficit. Both teams offered sub-par shooting from the field as the Badgers went 19-for-63 (30.2%), while CU made 16-of-55 (29.1%).
Morgan Paige and Nicole Bauman each recorded a game-high 17 points for Wisconsin.
CU and Michigan Tech will tip off the regular season next Saturday, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
