ST. PAUL, Minn. - This Friday night, the Concordia women's soccer team looks to protect their unbeaten home season as they attempt to make a push to the NSIC Tournament against Upper Iowa at 7 p.m. at Sea Foam Stadium.
It's a big night for Concordia students, with free hand warmers to the first 100 students while all
Bear Backers Student Rewards members will receive double the points (70!) and be entered into a drawing for a $100 bookstore gift card!
(must be present to win)
The game is also senior night, as the Golden Bears will honor four seniors,
Arielle Stimson (Lakeville, Minn.),
Kristi Loobeek (New Hope, Minn.),
Amanda Olsen (Cottage Grove, Minn.) and
Kim Sauberlich (Appleton, Wis.).
Equally as important are the playoff implications associated with this weekend. Concordia is currently tied for sixth in the NSIC Standings with 22 points, along with Bemidji State and St. Cloud State, while Minnesota Duluth is sitting in ninth place with 20 points.
The kicker? Bemidji State must face both SCSU and UMD this weekend, hosting SCSU on Friday while travelling to UMD on Sunday. SCSU and UMD also face Minnesota, Crookston (7 pts), complicating the playoff picture.
The goal for the Golden Bears on Friday night is to leave Sea Foam Stadium undefeated on the season, and to come away with points. A tie gives them a point, and a win provides a three-point boost. Upper Iowa is formidable with a 10-2-1 record and 31 points in league play. Their losses were both on the road, at Winona State and at Northern State.

Concordia will close their regular season out at Winona State on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Warriors are in second place (12-1, 36 pts) in the NSIC and are mathematically in the picture for an NSIC title as they'll play the top-ranked team in the country, NSIC leading Minnesota State on Friday night.
