The fourth-ranked Concordia University volleyball team claimed its seventh straight victory in straight sets Friday night at the Gangelhoff Center with a convincing win over Minnesota, Crookston by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-11. The Golden Bears improve their home record to a perfect 11-0 – all in straight sets – while moving to 17-3 overall and 11-2 in the NSIC.

Cassie Haag (Plymouth, Minn.) and Ellie Duffy (Fridley, Minn.) led the Concordia offense with 13 kills each. Haag went 13-for-22 with no errors for a .591 attack percentage, while Duffy went 13-for-28 with three errors for a .357 clip. Taylor Dordan (Blaine, Minn.) started her fourth consecutive match at libero and responded with a game-high 15 digs. Amanda Konetchy (Victoria, Minn.) tallied 41 assists for her ninth 40+ assist match in three sets.

Concordia took an early 10-3 lead in the first set and maintained a comfortable advantage. The Golden Eagles cut the deficit to four at 14-10, but the home team then scored four straight points on its way to a 25-16 win.

The second set was closely contested throughout the first 20 points with five scoring ties and one lead change. With the score knotted at 10-10, Concordia pulled away with a 13-to-4 run to lead 23-14. Minnesota, Crookston managed two more points but that was all in a 25-16 decision.

The third set started similar to the second with three scoring ties at 8-8, but a kill by Duffy set up a dominating spree for the Bears. Erienne Lauersdorf (Watertown, Wis.) served 15 consecutive times as CU ran off with a 22-8 advantage, eventually ending the set 25-11.

The Navy and Gold limited UMC to a .043 attack rate (20-16-92), while posting a .340 clip (47-12-103).
