Dragons hot shooting sinks cu

st. Paul, minn. - the golden bears were unable to take any momentum they garnered from their win over bemidji state last weekend as they fell 77-65 to msu moorhead (7-9, 4-8 nsic) on friday night in the gangelhoff center. The dragon's angie jetvig had 16 points and 16 rebounds in the game. Concordia was led by tierra bender's 12 points. box score | photos: oakman | flickr

the story of the game was the contrast in shooting as msu moorhead shot 49.1% from the field and cu shot just 38.3% from the field. Concordia hit seven three-pointers on the evening but it was not enough as cu trailed by 17 at halftime and as much as 24 in the game.

minnesota state moorhead jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening 2:12 of play and held cu scoreless for the first 3:25 of the game. The dragons never looked back as cu was never closer than three in the game. Jetvig was able to grab 10 rebounds in the first eight minutes of action. Msum held a 20-8 advantage with 10:57 left in the first half. Concordia never got the lead under double-digits as the dragons went into half with a 17 point lead at 39-22.

concordia shot just 28.6% in the first half and was 2-10 from downtown, the dragons on the other hand shot 48.1% and outscored cu 18-6 in the paint.

as the second half started cu went on an 8-2 run to get within 11 but that was as close the game would get in the second half as the dragons started to pull away. Msum went on a 20-8 run over the next six plus minutes to extend the lead to 22 at 61-39. With 6:08 left in the game and the dragons leading 72-48, concordia tried to put together a final push going on a 15-2 run to get within 11 at 74-63. Unfortunately the run was too late as the clock read 1:42 left and concordia did not have enough to complete the comeback.

next up is minnesota, crookston who comes to town tomorrow. Game time is set for 4 p.m. In the gangelhoff center as cu will look to rebound.
