Carlson's career high carries CU

saint paul, minn - megan carlson (andover, minn.) was huge on saturday afternoon going for a career high 19 kills to lead concordia (13-0, 5-0 nsic) to a 3-0 win over minnesota state - moorhead (6-6, 3-2 nsic) 25-18, 25-18 and 25-19. Concordia had 64 digs in the the match as carlson, kayla koenecke (chaska, minn.) and taylor fieldsted (lakeville, minn.) all had double-digit kills. Fieldsted led the defense with 16 digs. box score

concordia's ellie duffy (fridley, minn.) was second on the team with nine kills along with nine digs. amanda konetchy (victoria, minn.) had 42 assists to lead the cu offense to the win. The golden bears had just five errors as they hit .358 on the day.

the golden bears got out to a 9-5 lead in the first set forcing a quick dragon timeout. Cu did not let the to phase them as they continued to pour it on taking a 17-11 lead late in the set. Msu-m tried to rally back, getting within four at 20-16, however it was not enough as concordia took set one 25-18.

duffy came up big in the second set as concordia rallied from 7-4 down. Duffy had five kills alone in the set as her and the golden bears took control with the match tied at 13. Cu scored eight out of nine points to take a 21-14 lead late. Ellie had two kills in final three points for cu as they took set two 25-18.

it was the megan carlson show in set three, as she had 10 kills and four digs in the set. Fieldsted had seven digs and koenecke had six in the third set. Koenecke finished the match with 13 digs. The third set was very competitive with the set tied at 14 all midway through. A quick 3-0 run by cu forced a msu-m timeout and propelled the golden bears to a 25-19 set three win.

the next match for concordia will be tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. As the golden bears play host to #7 southwest minnesota state at 7:00 p.m. At the gangelhoff center.
