saint paul, minn. - for a the first forty-five minutes of action the minnesota state (3-1-1, 1-0 nsic) looked poised for a big win over the golden bears (1-4-0, 1-0 nsic) but cu hung in the match and fell by a 1-0 score. The mavericks got their lone goal from brittany henry who got on the end of an errant cu pass and was alone on megan kurtz, beating her on the play. Concordia had a much better second half and put some pressure on the mavs having a few good chances on net.

following the match head coach steve bellis had this to say, "i thought we played well in the second half and proud of how we worked. Minnesota state is a very good organized team with a very good head coach." that well organized team showed just that in the opening minutes of play and could gone into half up 3-0. The golden bears back four and kurtz did a nice job keeping the score at 1-0. Kurtz played more aggressive and it paid off in the end.

in the second half concordia came out on a mission and for the first ten minutes of play they were on the offensive. kim sauberlich and amanda olsen did a nice job getting the ball toward the maverick box. The best chance cu had in the came when olsen did a nice job winning possession on the edge of the box and sending the ball across the box. chloe moore just missed getting on the other end of the pass as the mavs keeper came out and grabbed the ball. In the final minutes of play sauberlich had a free kick that she put on net forcing another nice save by the mavericks keeper.
