moorhead, minn. - the golden bears wrapped up their season in style monday afternoon as they swept minnesota state moorhead 15-5 and 5-3 in a doubleheader. sami mattson had six rbi's in game one and was just a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle. erin tjornhom hit a homerun in game one which extended cu's homerun streak to eight games. In game two cu broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh to get the win. With the victories cu wraps up the seventh seed in the nsic tournament this weekend in sioux falls, s. game 1
thanks to a error by the dragons in the top of the first, cu's katie anderson reached. brynn larsen kept the threat alive reaching on a single to left. Anderson stole second and larsen moved to third on the throw. Mattson drove in her first two of six rbi's in the game with a double to center. After a strikeout tessa ewert singled to move mattson to third. missie feuerbach hit her first of two doubles in the game to plate both mattson and ewert as cu took a 4-0 lead after one. ashley kluever allowed a walk and a hit in the bottom of the inning but did strikeout the side.

the golden bears tried to add to their lead in the top of the second as they got three straight singles with one out but left the bases loaded. Moorhead took advantage of their opportunities their half of the second scoring three runs on three hits. They also left the bases loaded though as things could have been worse for cu.

in an attempt to break the game open in the third concordia got their first three batters to reach base. M. Feuerbach drew a leadoff walk and then katie feuerbach and megan revoir each singled, m. Feuerbach scored on the revoir single to make the score 5-3. Msum brought in a new pitcher but she walked anderson to load the bases with nobody out. After a pair of quick outs mattson hit her third career triple to clear the bases as she picked up her fifth rbi in just three innings. Tjornhom was up next and blasted a homer to left field as the golden bears put a six spot up in the third and took a 10-3 lead.

missie feuerbach picked up a leadoff double in the fourth but three straight outs stranded her there. The game went into the bottom of the fifth still holding a 10-3 lead. Moorhead scored a run on a sac fly in the fifth as they tried to get back in the game.

another big inning for cu in the top of the sixth put the game out of reach as the poured on five more runs. Ewert led off with a walk and advanced to second on a m. Feuerbach single. Two straight outs almost killed the rally but anderson singled up the middle to score a ewert. Larsen singled to load the bases up and then calli brennan doubled to clear the bases. Mattson hit her second double of the game which scored brennan making the cu lead 15-4, it was her sixth rbi of the game. Msum plated a run in the bottom of the inning but the game still ended after six innings.

game 2
concordia has been able to score runs in the first inning all season long and did not disappoint again on monday afternoon as they tallied two runs in the opening frame. It did not look like cu would score as the first two batters in the inning went down but a single by brennan and a double by mattson put runners on second and third. Tjornhom delivered with a single to right field scoring two runs. cassye mcmahon started the game with an ambiguous start as she walked and hit the first two batters in the dragon lineup. She quickly rebounded forcing a double play and got out of the jam as the runner on third was caught trying to steal home.

the game remained 2-0 for the next four innings as both pitchers settled in. There were scoring chances for both teams during this time however. In the top of the third inning cu had runners on first and second with one out but couldn't increase their lead. In the bottom of the fifth msum also had runners on first and second with just one away and after an error had runners on second and third with two down. Mcmahon got a fly ball to center to end the threat.

cu eked out a run in the top of the sixth to make their lead 3-0 as they again rallied with two away. M. Feuerbach had a double to left field and scored on a single by her sister katie feuerbach to right field. The dragons had a furious rally in the bottom of the sixth scoring three runs on four hits to tie the game. Msum had five of their first six batters reach base on three singles and two walks to score the first two runs. Their third run was plated by a sac fly to left field for the second out. After another single msum had the bases loaded with two outs and a was a base hit or walk away from taking their first lead. Mcmahon dug deep and got a fly out to end the inning.

in the top of the seventh cu got a leadoff triple by anderson, and then scored on larsen's single to left. Brennan sacrificed larsen to second and then tjornhom delivered another two out hit to score larsen with a double to center field. Mcmahon set moorhead down in order in the seventh to pick up the complete game win.
