Golden bears sweep um, crookston - extend win streak to four

auburndale, fla. - the concordia university baseball team climbed above the .500 mark for the first time since the 2010 season opener as they swept the university of minnesota, crookston with 20-0 and 20-3 victories at lake myrtle park field 3 on saturday afternoon. The golden bears close out their spring trip with a 4-3 record and four straight wins. Statistics will be available by late sunday afternoon.

head coach mark "lunch" mckenzie commented on the spring trip, "we won four straight games and really battled despite some losing some key early season contributors in the lineup and pitching staff. Sammy (fagely) really stepped up for us as a senior leader, catching all but two innings on the trip (relieved by jared kramer)."

the golden bears scored 31 unanswered runs in a 10-inning span of baseball, starting with their 11 unanswered runs from the 6th through 9th innings in their win over northwood and continuing into their 20-0 win in seven innings over um crookston.

in game one, sophomore right hander andy fagely (mahtomedi, minn.) tossed a complete game (7-innings) shutout allowing five hits with six strikeouts and no walks. He improved to 1-1 on the year in his second start.
