Carlson's and Konecke's double-double's lead CU in sweep

saint paul, minn. - the golden bears (18-0, 9-0 nsic) swept winona state (12-7, 6-4 nsic) 25-14, 28-26, 25-14 behind double-doubles from kayla koenecke (delano, minn.) and megan carlson (andover, minn.). Koenecke led the offense with 15 kills and 10 digs and carlson led in digs with 13 to go along with her 10 kills. Two other golden bears had ten digs, erienne lauersdorf (watertown, wis.) and taylor fieldsted (lakeville, minn.). box score

michelle graham (woodbury, minn) set a career high in blocks with six on the night as the team had eight in the three sets. Lauersdorf just missed a double-double with nine kills. Concordia had five aces on the afternoon from five different players. The golden bears have now won 40 straight matches, 82 straight nsic regular season matches and 60 straight matches at home.

in the first set the golden bears held a two point advantage at 8-6 before scoring three quick points and taking a 11-7 lead. The warriors never got back within two and fell behind 21-10 late in the set. Graham had four five blocks alone in the first set as cu went on to win 25-14.

the warriors battled concordia point for point in the second set. Neither team had an advantage more than two points until cu held the 21-18 lead. Wsu battled back though and tied the match at 24. The warriors had set point at 26-25 before brady starkey called a timeout to settle his team. Whatever he said in the huddle did the trick as katie habeck (farmington, minn.) got a kill and then an error by wsu and solo block by carlson gave cu the 28-26 set win.

concordia used the momentum from the second set win to jump out to a 5-1 lead in the third set. The warriors did their best to tie the match up at six all. Cu dug in however and scored seven of the next eight points to take 13-7 lead midway through the set. The warriors got within five a couple times but that was all they could muster as cu won the set 25-14.

the golden bears are back in action tuesday night at bemidji state at 7:00 p.m.
