the golden bears had a number of players step up to lead the team to the wins on sunday, including a pair of sophomores. It was brennan's long shot that finished off a big 5-2 win in the bottom of the seventh inning in the first game and an overall 5-for-7 daily performance from katie anderson that helped the team to both wins. Senior anna bjorlin also continued her great start to the year with hits in 50% of her at-bats today.

in order to defeat lock haven university, the golden bears struck early with two first inning runs and then completed the victory with the big seventh inning. Missie feuerbach started the frame off with a single and bjorlin joined the freshman on the base paths with a walk to set brennan up for the game-ender. Junior cassye mcmahon got the start in the circle and threw a great game, going the distance for the win and striking out seven batters. She gave up runs in just one inning, the fourth, and got out of the seventh inning by striking out the final two batters with the go-ahead runner in scoring position.

brennan's home run was her second hit of the game and shows the potential that the sophomore has as a power hitter this season. Anderson had two singles and two stolen bases in the win to set her consecutive stolen base streak at a perfect 21-for-21 in her young career, a streak that ended when she was caught in the second game of the day.

concordia's matchup with clarion saw that bats swinging strong again, knocking out 15 hits before nine runs crossed the plate. Anderson officially went 3-for-3, all singles, and also had a sacrifice bunt and a walk. sami mattson contributed two doubles to the cu cause, while bjorlin came away with a three-bagger as one of her three knocks. The golden bears put four runs up in the second inning, which would prove to be enough for the win.

freshman katie feuerbach recorded six outs and did not give up a hit, but was pulled in the third inning when walks got her into trouble. stephanie schmikla made a 5-inning appearance to gain the win, striking out eight clarion batters and not allowing a run. She allowed only two hits through her time at the rubber.

the golden bears continue play all week in florida, getting a taste of a wide array of opposition.
