late game heroics brought on an eight-inning concordia win over wisconsin-parkside on saturday. The rangers struck early with a run in the bottom of the first inning but were kept off of the board by junior righty cassye mcmahon for the next six innings. Mcmahon gave up just five hits in the game, only once allowing more than one hit in an inning.

it took the golden bears until the seventh inning to get their bats warmed up against uwp's pitcher. The team had a single in each of the fourth through sixth innings but did not move a runner past second base. katie anderson singled in each of the fourth and sixth innings for two of cu's first three hits, but did not score until later in the game.

concordia got on the scoreboard just in the knick of time, tying the game in the top of the seventh with abby brundidge leading off the must-have inning with a double. She tied the game at 1-1 with sami mattson driving out another double. Mcmahon got out of a bases loaded threat in the bottom of the inning to send the game into extra frames.

with the first chance to put a notch on the board and a runner placed on second due to international tie-break rules, the golden bears jumped on their chance for a win. Anderson was the player to produce first, scoring the extra runner with a momentous triple. Sophomore calli brennan then came through in the clutch, stepping to the plate and scoring anderson with a single. Every bit of the two-run cushion was needed as the rangers put up a run in the bottom of the inning, but mcmahon shut them down for the 3-2 complete game win. Anderson was 3-of-4 at the plate in the win.

game two produced a huge 6-2 win over ferris state, a great way to end the trip. The team scored three runs with the help of a big ferris state error in the third inning, anderson again coming through with an rbi triple. The fifth inning was also lucrative with another three runs and hits scattered about. anna bjorlin drove in the 4-0 lead with a double and later came around to score alongside anderson off of a brundidge double.

stephanie schmikla worked the entire game for the golden bears from the circle, striking out four batters and only giving up five hits. She leads the pitching staff in innings worked and has five wins on the year. Schmikla's only trouble came in the final inning when the bulldogs felt the pressure of a shutout closing in on them. They fired up with two lead-off hits and three knocks in the inning, but only came away with two runs.

anderson and brennan paced the offense with two hits each, while three other players came away with extra base swings as well.

katie anderson's big day at the plate moved her to the front of the offensive pack over the 12-game trip. She went 19-of-37 at the plate with two triples for a .514 average. To add further damage, anderson stole 10 bases on the trip. anna bjorlin followed with a .425 average, leading the squad with 11 runs scored thanks to seven walks. Bjorlin drove out seven extra base hits on the trip. The team's rbi title at the rebel spring games went to calli brennan who drove in 12 runs.

pitcher cassye mcmahon went 4-0 overall with a team low 1.97 era. stephanie schmikla led the team with 37 innings pitched and also racked up four wins. Both juniors threw four complete games.
