Golden Bears sweep Mary to finish a perfect 20-0 in NSIC

Saint paul, minn. - the #1 golden bears (26-4, 20-0 nsic) finished off another perfect season in the nsic saturday afternoon as they swept the university of mary marauders (6-24, 1-19 nsic) 25-19, 25-17, 25-15. Before the match cu recognized two phenomenal seniors krista erikson and emily palkert. Junior megan carlson led the team with 15 kills and 11 digs on the evening. Erikson was second on the team with ten digs to help the cu defense. box score | selection show

palkert and kayla koenecke were the other two golden bears who had double digit kills. Palkert had 12 kills and hit .435, even more impressive was kayla koenecke who had ten kills on 16 attempts and zero errors for a .625 hitting percentage. Cassie haag just missed double digits with nine kills.

concordia extends their nsic regular season streak to 72 and their home match winning streak to 49. They have now won 17 straight matches this season.

the golden bears and marauders were close for a while during the first set and the cu offense took a while to get going and mary was able to score a few points off cu mistakes.

concordia jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second set and although mary was able to come back a little bit on the golden bears it was not enough as cu won the set 25-17. Cu hit .424 in the second set in order to dominate the set offensively.

in set three cu jumped out again early but mary caught back up and hung with cu for a while. Cu was able to shut down the marauders offense and they themselves hit .343 in the third set to take it 25-15.
