northwestern scored the first two goals in the opening period to take a 2-0 lead. The golden bears' arielle stimson responded at 35:05 with her third goal of the season to cut the eagles lead to 2-1. katie johnson had the assist. The game remained tied until the final minutes when concordia tied things up at 78:58 with an unassisted goal by kari janes. janes broke out with the game-winner just four minutes later, putting the team up 3-2 at the 83:01 mark.
the golden bears shut the eagles out for the final minutes of play to preserve the win. katie budd faced five shots on goal throughout the game. After two shots snuck by in the first 30 minutes of play, budd denied the eagles any further damage. She made three saves in her third win of the season.
defense proved to be a leading factor in tuesday's game. The golden bears held northwestern to just six shots throughout the meeting, although five of them were on-goal. Concordia didn't rack up the shots, either, with just 13 in the game, but they managed to rocket 12 at the keeper.
