the golden bears set the pace of the game early on, acing west florida passers for four of the first ten points of the match, including three straight aces from kessler to force a timeout. The serving attack stifled an early 3-0 argos lead and set the golden bears on track for the quick win.
concordia also had a very strong offensive match, hitting .362 on the evening with megan carlson once again leading the way. She hit .417 in the win with 14 kills and completed her second double-double with 11 digs. emily palkert had an outstanding night at the net, going the entire match without a hitting error. In 19 attempts, palkert terminated 12 balls for a .632 hitting average. Freshman cassie haag displayed ferocity at the net as well, putting down eight kills in 11 attempts (.727). Both palkert and haag came up with a solo and two block assists from the middle of the net.
the argonauts of west florida struggled to get anything positive going all evening. Finishing with a team average of .090 on offense, the squad never strung together more than three points in a row. Conversely, the golden bears had a number of big runs, including a nine-point streak in the final set that moved the team from a 13-13 tie to a 22-13 edge. mary slinger took control from the line, serving effectively throughout the run.
