kissimmee, fla. - concordia university's softball team completed their spring break trip with two big wins on saturday, topping wheeling jesuit 8-2 in their first game of the day. They played their final game of the trip against ferris state, ranked #7 in the nation. The golden bears took a huge 3-2 win and handed ferris its second loss of the season. Concordia is now 13-11 on the year.

The team out-hit ferris 8-5, jumping out with a 2-0 lead in the first inning. sami mattson started the inning with a double. natalie mast then got on base with a ferris error by the pitcher. jamie lindboe had one of her biggest hits of the season, driving in both runners with a double.
concordia added another run to their lead in the fifth inning, with nikki scherr instigating the run. She hit a single and then advanced to second with a stolen base. anna bjorlin then hit a ground ball to the pitcher, where the golden bears once again found luck with an error. The ferris thrower threw the ball away in trying to get scherr out at third, allowing the concordia catcher to score and put the team up 3-0.
the only runs tabbed by the bulldogs came in the sixth inning. Two base hits were followed by an rbi fielder's choice. A double crossed the second run, but concordia held on to their 3-2 lead with the help of strong pitching by stephanie schmikla. Schmikla pitched a complete game with five strikeouts, only allowing ferris five hits in the game.
