As if concordia's nine home runs in two games yesterday weren't enough, the golden bears (24-14, 16-10 nsic) and northern state (15-28, 11-21 nsic) combined to hit 13 home runs, with nsu hitting five in a 15-4 first game win before cu hit four in a 10-5 second game as the two teams split for the second consecutive day at barnes field in st. Paul, minn.

adam kampsen was a tough out, torching concordia at the plate, going 6-8 with five home runs, 11 rbi and six runs scored, giving him 15 home runs on the season.
jake waldman (sr., minnetonka, minn.) hit two home runs in the second game while
jake schmidt (jr., oakdale, minn.) hit one homer in each game. Waldman now has 22 career home runs, fifth in school history, while schmidt has four home runs on the year.
game one: northern state 15, cu 4the wolves jumped on concordia early, when aaron kappes hit his first of two home runs in the game over the centerfield fence to lead things off.
kampsen hit a two run homer two batters later in a four run first inning.
he hit his second two run home run in the second inning, chasing starting pitcher
ted farni (jr., minnetonka, minn.) from the game with no outs in the second. Farni took the loss, falling to 3-2.
the highlight for the golden bears came in the four inning when
jake schmidt and
john maciej (sr., elk river, minn.) led off the inning with back-to-back home runs. It was maciej's ninth home run of the year and schmidt's third.
tyler bauman pitched a complete game for the win, improving to 3-3 for the wolves.
concordia used five pitchers in the game, with
ryan fixell (sr., coon rapids, minn.)
and
nik petersen (riverside, iowa) each working scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively.
waldman and schmidt each had two hits in the game. Schmidt was 2-3 with a home run and a double. Waldman was 2-4 and scored a run.
kampsen was 4-4 with three home runs, six rbi, four runs, a single and a walk while kappes was 3-5 with two home runs, four rbi and three runs.
game two: cu 10, northern state 5senior
eric utoft (minnetonka, minn.) pitched a complete game to pick up his 22nd career victory, improving to 4-1 on the season. He stands just one win shy of the school record, set by s.hollingsworth (1995-99).
utoft scattered seven hits, allowing five runs (four earned) while striking out six and walking one.
jake schmidt continued his hot hitting, going 3-4 with a double and a home run once again, driving in four and scoring two runs. Schmidt is now on a seven game hitting streak, hitting .478 (11-23) with four doubles and three home runs. He has raised his season average from .246 to .309 during the streak.
adam kampsen put the wolves ahead early once again hitting a two run home run in the first inning.
but back-to-back home runs by
jake waldman and
chris herbert (jr., white bear lake, minn.) in the third inning followed by an rbi single by schmidt gave them their first lead of the day, 3-2.
waldman connected for a three run home run in the next inning to put the golden bears ahead 6-2.
kampsen's three run home run in the fifth cut the score back to one, 6-5, but
john maciej delivered an rbi single to left in the fifth and schmidt sent a three run shot over the right centerfield fence to put the wolves away.
the two through six spots in the cu lineup all had multi-hit games.
