Golden bears season ends at nsic tournament

The golden bears earned a 2-1 win over msu moorhead (18-22) in their first game sunday in the elimination round of the nsic tournament in marshall, minn., but were defeated by the university of mary (31-29) 6-0 in the second game of the day. Concordia ends the season with a 27-22 overall record.

game 1 - concordia 2, msu moorhead 1
junior natalie mast led off the bottom of the first inning with a single to center field. Two batters later, sophomore abby brundidge singled to left field, scoring mast, giving cu a 1-0 lead.

concordia added another run in the bottom of the third inning on a double down the left field line by sophomore anna bjorlin, followed by double by brundidge, moving bjorlin to third. Bjorlin would later score on a wild pitch.

msu moorhead cut the lead to 2-1 on a solo home run by melissa saylor in the top of the seventh. But junior pitcher jenn kaminski would allow no more. Kaminksi allowed one run on five hits, striking out two.

the golden bears finished with seven hits, led by brundidge with two hits and a rbi.

game 2 - mary 6, concordia 0
mary put five rus on the board in the first two innings collecting seven hits and two walks in the the first two innings.

jenn kaminski was forced from the game after allowing five runs on five hits and two walks in just 1.1 innings. Freshman stephanie schmikla pitched the last 4.2 innings and gave up one run on five hits, with three strikeouts.

the golden bears offense struggled against mary pitcher a. Watson, who shut out cu, allowing five hits and striking out seven. Senior mallory olson led the offense with two hits.

note:
seniors mallory olson and nicole tischler finished their careers with the loss. Olson finished her career with 130 career hits, including 30 doubles, two triples and 14 doubles in 74 games. Tischler finished with 68 hits, 56 runs scored and 25 stolen bases in 136 games.
