Concordia university (17-13) dropped their fifth consecutive game, losing a pair of games minnesota state university, mankato (28-12) on wednesday afternoon at dunning field in st. Paul, minn. The golden bears were defeated 5-0 in game one and 6-0 in the second game of the afternoon. Sophomore

the golden bears left runners on first and second in the first two innings while the mavericks stranded the bases loaded in the first before pushing across a run in the second.
msu's ability to score early gave them the momentum as they scored again in the third and added three unearned runs in the fifth for the win.
meanwhile, the golden bear offense struggled after the first two innings, managing just one hit the rest of the way while not advancing a runner into scoring position again.

stephanie schmikla (madison, wi) took the loss, falling to 6-6 with 5.2 innings allowing five runs (two earns) on nine hits. She walked five and struck out one. Junior

brundidge extended her hitting streak to 12 games, hitting .641 during the streak (25-39) with 11 runs scored, five doubles, two home runs and 14 rbi. She is slugging .923 during the streak.
meagan teal picked up the win for msu, improving to 13-4 after six shutout innings, allowing three hits while striking out eight.
msu was led by katie reed who delivered a home run and three rbi while libbie reichling was 3-4.
game two - minnesota state 6, concordia 0
minnesota state jumped out early in game two taking advantage of three concordia miscues in the inning to score four runs in the first inning.
maverick jess anderson led off game two with a double to left field, the next batter amanda decker singled scoring anderson from second. Katie reed reached on an error and decker would score on a throwing error by right fielder josey olson. Reed scored on a sacrifice fly by libbie reichling. The mavericks scored their fourth run in the inning when abby wagner walked and scored on a fielder's choice.
concordia starter
cassye mcmahon (rescue, ca) settled down after the first inning and didn't allow another run until the fourth inning. The golden bear defense committed four errors in the game and only three of the six runs were charged as earned to mcmahon.
minnesota state starter booke mckelvogue, now 7-2 on the season, shut down the golden bears allowing only those four hits in 5 innings.
concordia's only real threat at scoring came in the fifth inning when freshman
mollie lenzi (st. Paul, mn) reached on an error to start the inning and moved to second on a throwing error.
natalie mast (oakdale, mn) sacrificed her to third, but
anna bjorlin (hermantown, mn) struck out looking for the second out. After a walk to brundidge,
tiffani rodd grounded out to third base to end the threat.
msu reliever samantha rohr pitched two innings of no hit ball to keep the concordia hitters at bay.
mcmahon took the loss as she now moves to 4-3 on the season.
