Golden bears shoot their way to 82-60 win

st. Paul, minn. - concordia university improves to 4-1 on the season after shooting 54 percent from the field in an 82-60 win over the university of wisconsin-la crosse (1-1). The game wraps up the 2008 wildwood lodge tip-off classic. Concordia's jamie jones and zoraa quoie were honored as members of the all-tournament team.

the golden bears used a 16-5 run late in the first half to break open the game for the first time. They hit four three-pointers in this stretch, including two from kali olstad, one from jones and one from kelly supernaw, and took an old fashioned three-point play from megan myhre. The run closed out the first half and put concordia up 41-26 at halftime.

the teams played similar second periods, but the eagles were unable to close the margin despite receiving another great period from tournament mvp mackenzie hunter. The largest lead of the game for the golden bears was a 24 point spread just before the game's final buzzer. The eagles did not get within more than 13 points from concordia in the second half.

jamie jones was the offensive leader on saturday afternoon, not missing a single shot all game. She went 4-of-4 from the field, including three shots from long range, and also hit 4-of-4 free throws. She added three assists to her weekend for a total of 14.

candace olstad went 5-of-8 from the field for 14 points and matched four teammates with four rebounds. K. Olstad and supernaw followed with 13 and 12 points each, respectively. shandrell duncan was the top player on the boards with six rebounds.

the golden bears hit 27-of-50 shots from the field for a 54.0% average. They edged the eagles with 31-29 rebound advantage and matched uwl with 22 turnovers.

uw-lacrosse shot 34.0% from the field on the afternoon. Hunter wsa the leading scorer with 26 points, also adding four steals. Lindsay wahl had ten points, six of which came from the charity stripe.
