freshman emily palkert delivered a dominant performance, ripping 21 kills and nine blocks (two solo) as #3 concordia-st. Paul (9-0) defeated st. Cloud state (5-6) in four games, 30-19, 30-17, 28-30, 30-13 on tuesday evening at the gangelhoff center.

palkert's 21 kills came at a .529 clip, committing just three errors in 34 attack attempts.

concordia also received a double-double effort from junior whitney meierotto, who had 18 kills and 13 digs while adding four block assists.

sophomores sadie kessler and raina hein also contributed to the efficient golden bear offense with 14 and nine kills, respectively.

sophomore setter maggie mcnamara distributed out 53 assists in the four game match while just missing a double-double with eight digs. She also added a pair of aces.

the defensive effort was well-balanced with three players in double-figures in digs paced by sophomore libero mary slinger's 16. Slinger also posted a pair of aces while freshman krista erickson added 14 digs and four aces.

at the net, the bears held a decisive 12-6 edge in blocks. The defense held scsu to a -.029 game four hitting pct. (8k-9e-35ta). For the match, the huskies hit a paltry .067 (43k-32e-164ta) while concordia killed at a .269 rate (68k-25e-160ta).

the concordia offense was at it's sharpest in game two (19-8-41) and game four (18-4-36).

concordia looks to continue their nine match winning streak when northern sun play begins this friday, sept. 7 when they host upper iowa at 7:00 p.m. On saturday, concordia will host winona state.

the bears are currently riding the fourth-longest winning streak against conference opponents (including all matches played) with 64 consecutive victories against northern sun foes.
