the concordia women's basketball team (18-9, 15-3 nsic) earned its second nsic regular-season title with a 79-67 win over southwest minnesota state saturday night in marshall. Their last title came in 2003-04.
the bears were led by amanda behnke with 24 points, her tenth game of the season with 20-plus points. On the night, behnke shot 9-14, including 6-8 from the free throw line.
katie laviolette recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 assists. She now has ten or more assists in nine games this year and increased her school single-season assist mark to 233. She also had six rebounds and four steals in the game.
kelly lund also finished in double-figures with 15 points. She added five rebounds and four assists in the game. candace olstad led the bears with 10 rebounds as concordia outrebounded the mustangs 45-38.
the bears will open play at the nsic tournament on feb. 28th, hosting southwest minnesota state at 6:00 in the gangelhoff center. If they win, they will host the remainder of the tournament mar. 3-4.
