The fourth-ranked concordia volleyball team (27-2, 15-1 nsic) clinched at least a share of their fifth straight nsic regular-season title with a 30-18, 30-20, 30-20 win over msu moorhead (15-9, 9-7 nsic) saturday night at the gangelhoff center.
concordia holds a two game lead with two games (northern state and mary) to play next week in the nsic.
the bears used a balanced attack to cruise to their season-high 13th straight win on the season with four players topping double-digit kills. Freshman
emily palkert led the attack with 15 kills, 5 errors in 37 attempts (.270) to pace csp. She also had a team-high five blocks on the night.
junior
maria steinhagen hit an impressive .591 with 14 kills against only one error in 27 attempts. She added four blocks and four digs. Sophomore
sadie kessler finished the night with 12 kills and senior
kate bennett ten.
the bears put together another solid defensive effort with ten team blocks, compared to five for the dragons. They also outdug msum 76 to 53. Sophmore
mary slinger finished with a team-high 20 digs, while junior
whitney meierotto had 19 on the night.
as a team, the bears hit .270 with 56 kills, 19 errors in 137 attempts. Sophomore
maggie mcnamara finished with 47 assists to improve her ncaa assists per game lead to 14.26 per game.
the bears will travel to duluth to take on the third-ranked bulldogs of umd on tuesday, oct. 30th. There is still time to sign up for the fan bus. Check the web-site for more information.
