For the second time in as many days and the fourth time this season, concordia-st. Paul (3-11-2, 1-4-0 nsic) dropped a tough 1-0 decision, this time to northern sun leaders northern state (12-3-2, 5-0-1 nsic) on a gloomy sunday afternoon at concordia field.
concordia has now been shutout 11 times this year in 16 games.
although they didn't score this afternoon, the concordia offense showed strength against the top team in the nsic, holding possession on the offensive end for much of the contest.
credit the northern state defense for the shutout as the wolves consistently had a wall of defenders in front of their two goalkeepers, catherine grace and dee woods, who combined for the shutout. Grace made two saves before leaving due to injury while woods didn't need to make any saves behind nsu's defense.

keyton wheelock took the loss for the golden bears, facing 14 total shots, making two saves and allowing one goal in the three shots that were on goal.
the wolves scored the lone goal in the game in the first half in the 33rd minute when kasara sutton beat wheelock on a rebound off of a blocked shot by aleasha devaney.
concordia returns to action next weekend on the road. On saturday, october 20 at 10 a.m., the golden bears have a rematch with #19 winona state, who they defeated earlier in the year when wsu was ranked #7 in the nation. On sunday, the bears travel to upper iowa for a 1 p.m. Contest.
