candace olstad tied a career-high with 19 points and had a career-high four assists as the bears (10-8, 7-2 nsic) overcame an early deficit to defeat wayne state (10-8 (3-6 nsic) at the gangelhoff center saturday night.
the wildcats scored the first five points of the contest before the bears rattled off 12 straight and never relinquished the lead. Olstad finished the night with a team-leading three blocks and shot 8-15 from the field, including 2-3 from three point range in 24 minutes.
kelly lund shot 7-13 (1-4 3 pt) and 4-4 from the free throw line to also finish with 19 points. She would add five rebounds, two steals and two assists in 31 minutes.
for the second time this season,
katie laviolette tallied a double-double with 12 points and ten assists. She added three rebounds and three steals in another impressive all-around performance.
amanda behnke just missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Behnke shot 4-10 from the floor and a team-high 6-6 from the free throw line.
on the night, concordia was again impressive from the free throw line, making 19-24 (.792) as a team. From the floor, the bears converted 2-61 (.443) from the floor and 6-19 (.316) from beyond the arc.
wayne state had four players score in double-figures, led by andrea schoeff's 15. Lauren gustafson added 13 and erin mccormick and amanda covington each had 12. The wildcats shot 25-61 (.410) from the floor, with 7-18 (.389) from three point range and only 11-19 (.579) from the free throw line.
the bears will host msu moorhead on jan. 27th in their only action next week.
