Concordia University (29-12-1) lost 22-7 to Wayne State (37-13-1) in the 2006 NSIC baseball tournament championship game played on Saturday afternoon in Wayne, Nebraska. The Wildcats earn the NSIC's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Central Region Tournament with the victory.
Wayne State pulled ahead 9-2 after two innings with five runs in the first and four in the second. They added a 10 run fourth to bury the Bears, 19-2 after four innings.
Concordia did manage to put up some runs on the regular season and tournament champion wildcats as senior catcher
Bobby Meier (left) blasted a grand slam, his fourth home run of the season. Meier finishes the season with a school-record 63 hits. He finished the day 2-4 with the grand slam.

Erik Quarberg (right) also delivered a homer, giving him a school-record 13 on the year and 32 for his career.
Senior designated hitter
Galen Wetzell added a 2-3 effort and scored a run.
Rob Maslowski takes the loss, his first of the season as he falls to 3-1. He worked 1.2 innings and allowed nine runs (seven earned) on five hits and three walks.
He was relieved by
Jacob Campion, Bryan Bach, Ryan Fixell and
Nick Davis. Davis turned in the finest pitching line as he pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit to the Wildcats.
The loss closes the season out for the Golden Bears, who finish with their second consecutive 29 win season as they went 29-12 a season ago.
