Concordia university (40-16) lost 2-0 at #2 emporia state (56-4) in the 11th inning as the hornets hit a walk-off two-run home run to advance to the semifinals of the ncaa north central regional tournament on friday afternoon at turnbull field in emporia, kansas.

kristen schmidt continued her run of brilliant pitching as she struck out 16 batters and allowed just five hits and three walks in 10.1 innings of work. She tossed 169 pitches, in the ballgame and had a no-hitter broken up with no outs in the fifth inning.
she took the loss in the game as she allowed the two-run home run, falling to 23-11 on the season which snaps a run of six consecutive winning decisions.
the bears were unable to muster an offensive attack as they were held to just four hits and did not draw a walk against the hornets. They rallied in the top of the ninth inning with a pair of singles by

emporia state starting pitcher courtney reed posted 13 strikeouts in an 11 inning complete game shutout, needing just 119 pitches. Megan davison hit the game-winning home run which brings her season total to 20.
