Concordia drops sixth straight nsic game 92-77 at winona state

The bears dropped their sixth straight nsic game saturday night, losing 92-77, despite a team-high 18 points from kenneth pointer who made his return from a two-game layoff.

a 12-0 run in the first half propelled winona state university to a 92-77 northern sun intercollegiate conference win over concordia university st. Paul in mccown gymnasium. The game was tied a 6-6 when the warriors went on the 12-0 run and from there never looked back. Wsu went on to hold a 44-30 lead at halftime and outscored the golden bears 48-47 in the second half.

pointer went 5-14 from the field and 6-8 from the free throw line. ty thomas (left) and marlon walker (right) were the only other bears to score in double-figures. Thomas scored 17 points on 6-14 shooting and 5-6 from the line and walker went 5-6 from the field and scored 12 points. Both walker and thomas had a team-high five rebounds.

david zellmann and quincy henderson led the warriors with 24 and 22 points respectively, while john smith came up with a double-double on 18 ponts and ten rebounds. Henderson also doubled up with 12 rebounds and jonte flowers finished with 11 points.

for the game, the bears were outrebounded 51-29. As a team, the bears shot 27-66 (40.9%) from the field, 5-14 (35.7%) from three and 18-23 (78.3%) from the free throw line.

the bears fall to 13-8 (2-6 nsic) and will travel to aberdeen to face #12 northern state on feb. 10th. The wolves will take a 18-2 (7-1 nsic) record into the matchup.
