Sophomore forward
candace olstad (left) defined clutch for the golden bears as she converted a 13 foot jump shot with under 10 seconds to play in overtime to propel concorida university (1-4, 1-0 nsic) to a 70-69 road victory at minnesota state moorhead (4-3, 0-1 nsic) on saturday evening at alex nemzek fieldhouse.
olstad also converted a layup and free throw to with 1:20 in regulation to give the bears a 63-60 lead down the stretch before the dragons rallied to tie the game and send it into overtime when katie walden converted a layup with three seconds remaining to tie the score.
on the ensuing in-bounds pass by the bears, walden stole the ball and missed jumper from inside of eight feet with junior
kelly lund in her face - a shot that would have sent the bears to their fifth straight loss but instead the bears pulled out an overtime victory.
the bears last four games have been decided by a total of seven points as the young team led by seven juniors pulled together a team effort to execute down the stretch to pull out the win.

amanda behnke's (left) 14 points. Behnke also added five rebounds, two steals and a block. Freshman guard

scored 13 points and had two steals in 34 minutes in her second collegiate start and finished 5-8 from the field and 2-5 from three-point territory.
olstad finished the game with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes of action and was 3-6 from the field but more importantly 6-8 at the charity stripe.
junior guards
katie laviolette (left) and kelly lund each finished with 10 points with laviolette dishing a game-high six assists while contributing four rebounds and a steal in 44 minutes - only missing one minute of game time in the overtime affair.
meanwhile lund barely missed a double-double with nine rebounds to go along with her 10 points. Lund also added two steals and an assist while burying two threes.
on the other end of the court, the dragons were led by junior center jessica fesenmaier's 12 points and 13 rebounds. Fesenmaier finished 5-9 from the field but missed the game-winning shot at the buzzer in overtime as cu junior center
whitney smetana played tough defense on her in the post. Smetana finished with two blocks and four rebounds while sophomore
abby nielsen added three blocks and three points in just six minutes of work.
the golden bears were only outplayed in one facet of the game, as cu held the lead in the contest for most of the way. The dragons controlled the offensive glass with a 25-6 margin in offensive rebounds that led to an 18-4 advantage in second chance points.
but the golden bears defense contributed to shutting the dragons down to a 32.9% (25-76) evening from the field, 27.8% (5-18) from three-point range and 56.0% (14-25) at the foul line. The overall rebounding margin went to the dragons, 56-35.
the bears finished the game shooting 39.0% (23-59) from the field, 33.3% (6-18) from downtown and 64.3% (18-28) at the stripe.
concordia returns to the floor next weekend when they travel to bemidji state and minnesota crookston on dec. 8-9 for a pair of 6:00 northern sun contests.
