senior kelsey kyro recorded 19 kills and hit .469 to lead #7 concordia university (23-2) in a 30-21, 30-19, 30-26 sweep of augustana college (10-10) on tuesday evening at the gangelhoff center.
the win pushes cu's winning streak to seven matches, all three game sweeps to push their consecutive games streak to 21 which cracks the top 25 longest streaks in ncaa division ii history. The vikings provided the bears with a scare in the third game, holding the lead well into the game. But the bears rallied from an 8-2 deficit and forced augie to call timeout after cu ran up an 18-14 lead following a 10-2 run.
the bears also had a pair of double-doubles in a balanced victory as freshman setter maggie mcnamara (left)achieved her double-double in the first two games as she had 32 assists and 10 digs with one game to play before finishing the night with 47 assists, 12 digs, two aces and a block.
senior jessica lucia (right) notched the other double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. She also added seven assists and three blocks in the match.
two other bears reached double-digit kills as senior ashley olson and junior monica mcnamara each had 12 kills and five digs.
senior megan graham (left) posted a match-high 15 digs while freshman mary slinger recorded nine.
the bears came out swinging once again, hitting .341 for the match including a .581 pct. In a 30-19 game two win. The vikings were held to a .176 hitting pct. And had just nine kills and a .083 pct. After the first game thanks to solid defensive play by the bears led by slinger's five first game digs.
the bears return to nsic action this weekend when they travel to take on upper iowa and winona state on friday and saturday. The bears are defending the sixth-longest conference winning streak in ncaa d-ii history at 53 straight. They have yet to lose a game in conference play, going 36-0 this season in 12 matches.
