#5 Concordia University (14-4, 5-0 NSIC) held on to defeat #25 MSU Moorhead (13-3, 2-3 NSIC) in five games, 30-28, 30-16, 27-30, 17-30, 15-11, on Friday night at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.
Senior Valerie Olson paced the Bears with 22 kills while committing just three attack errors, hitting .345 for the match. Her nine digs left her one shy of her first double-double of the season.
Senior setter Cailin Terhaar was three assists shy of her school record in assists with 70, while junior libero Megan Graham notched 34 digs, the second time in her career she has reached the 30-dig mark.
Junior Jessica Lucia added another double-double to her resume with 20 kills and 17 digs, just missing a 20-20 performance. Junior Ashley Olson turned in 25 digs, while senior Danielle Niehls added 16.
Junior Kelsey Kyro and sophomore Monica McNamara contributed 14 and 13 kills, apiece.
The Bears' attack was dominant in the first two games, with Terhaar posting 21 assists in the first game and the team hitting .581 in the second game with 20 kills in 31 attacks with just two errors.
But Concordia fell flat in games three and four, hitting just .167 and .041, respectively, before rebounding for a decisive fifth-game win.
Each team hit .200 for the match, but CU outkilled the dragons 79-65 and held a 114-93 advantage in digs.
The Bears return to action tomorrow when they entertain the Northern State Wolves at the Gangelhoff Center at 3 p.m.
