Flordia Gulf Coast jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, knocking starting pitcher Adam Flaherty out of the game after just 1.1 innings. Flaherty gave up four runs on four hits and walked four in a shaky outing. Reliever Eric Utoft didn't fair much better, allowing three runs on two hits, walking two, and hitting a batsman in 1.2 innings. Brian Bach, Ryan Fixell, and Nick Davis combined for three shutout innings to end the game.
Eric Quarberg led the Bears offense, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs, and he scored the third run. For the game, the Bears were held to just four hits and left five runners on base.
Concordia will return to action on Mar. 10, when they will face MSU, Mankato in the Metrodome at 9:45 p.m.
