For the first time in school history, the Bears have advanced to the second round of the NSIC Tournament with a 93-84 win at host Wayne State.
Brian Jamros led a group of four Bears in double figures with 26.
The Bears held a 47-34 halftime lead, but Wayne State chipped away at the lead and got to as close as 66-64 with 9:43 to play in the second half. The Bears converted 14 of their last 16 free throws in the last three minutes to secure the win.
Justin Vandenberg added 19 points, and
Kenneth Pointer had 16 in the win.
Kyle Marxhausen recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bears will play the #1 seed Winona State, who needed double overtime to defeat #8 MSU Moorhead 98-86. The game will be played on the campus of Winona State at 4:00 p.m.
