North Dakota dismantle Bears 76-46

The eighth-ranked Sioux, looking to avenge a 78-76 loss to the Bears in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen last season, jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead and never looked back in rolling to a 76-46 win over Concordia Saturday in Grand Forks.

Ashley Smith ended the Sioux run with a three-point field goat at 16:03 of the first half before UND extended the lead to 17-3. The Bears were able to cut the lead to 17-8 on a layup by Amanda Behnke, but that would be as close as they would get in the game. Concordia committed 17 first-half turnovers, leading to 24 UND points. They would end the game with a season-high 29 turnovers for the game.

Nakia Carlisle was the only Concordia player to score in double-figures, with 10 points, while Smith added nine, leaving her three points short of 1,000 points at Concordia. Behnke, the Bears' second-leading scorer on the season, was limited to eight points and five rebounds in 21 minutes, as she spent most of the game in foul trouble and finally fouled out with 3:20 remaining.

The bears shot 18-45 (.400) for the game, including 3-12 (.250) from behind the arc, while the Sioux hit .518 (29-56) from the field. The Sioux dominated the boards, outrebounding Concordia 45-21, including 15 offensive rebounds.

The Sioux were led by Ashley Langen, who scored 25 points and seven rebounds, while Kristi Boese added 15 points.

With the win, North Dakota improves to 10-0 on the young season, while the Bears fall to 2-3. Concordia will be in action again on Wednesday, Dec. 7th when they travel to MSU, Mankato.
