Concordia University (4-4) hauled in a school-record 73 rebounds as they defeated Mount Mary College (Wis.) 101-13 on Saturday afternoon at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn. in non-conference action.
Concordia grabbed 33 offensive boards, which led to a 36-0 advantage in second chance points. The Bears sprinted out to a 33-0 lead in the first nine minutes, and the Blue Angels didn't score until Jennifer Bowman hit a jumper at the 9:48 mark. CU went on to hold a 51-5 lead at the half, led by junior
Stephanie Westman's 12 points and six rebounds, both team-highs in the half.
That put the Golden Bears in the driver's seat as they cruised to the victory.
No one on the team played more than sophomore
Lindsay Palmer's 25 minutes, and everyone played at least 11 minutes in the game. Palmer led the squad with a career-high 19 points, shooting 6-8 from the field, 2-3 from three-point range, and 5-6 from the line. Palmer also had four rebounds, four blocks, three steals, and two assists in an all-around performance.
Westman and sophomore guard
Megan Kirchenwitz were the only other Bears to score in double-figures, with each pouring in career highs with 14 points. Westman also had a game-high eight rebounds, five on the offensive end, while Kirchenwitz tied senior guard
Ashley Smith with the second-highest rebounding total with seven.
Everyone on the team got in the action, as every player on the roster scored at least three points in the game. In addition,11 players hit at least one three. 12 players had at least two rebounds, and 12 players had at least one assist.
Senior guard
Nakia Carlisle, the Bears' leading scorer on the season, had just four points but supplemented that with her ability to distribute. She dished out a game-high eight assists. Carlisle also had four steals in the game. Sophomore point guard
Katie Laviolette had six assists off the bench and connected on her only shot of the game, a three-pointer.
The 73 team rebounds, which broke the previous record of 63 set on Nov. 26, 1996 against North Central, were evenly distributed throughout the roster. While Westman paced the team with eight and Kirchenwitz and smith each added seven, sophomore

Whitney Smetana had five, and three others had four rebounds as well.
Concordia had assists on 30 of their 39 field goals made and turned the ball over just six times while forcing 22 turnovers by the Blue Angels.
Mount Mary was led by Ebony Morrow's six points, three rebounds, and two assists. She played all 40 minutes. Natasha Pesce had three points and six rebounds, and Jennifer Bowman finished with four points and two rebounds.
