The Concordia men's basketball opened the season with a 57-54 win on the road over UW-River Falls Sunday night.
Kenneth Pointer led the Bears with 21 points and four rebounds.
The Bears trailed 30-29 at the half, but a layup by
Ty Thomas at 19:02 gave the Bears a 31-29 lead. The Bears would not trail after that point. Concordia led by as many as eight in the second half a 44-36 at 11:42. The Falcons would tie the game a 46-46 with 8:25 left in the game.
There would be two more ties before Concordia would take the lead for good on a three by
Joey Peel at 6:16 in the game. Thomas scored ten points and a team-high four assists and
Kyle Marxhausen led the Bears with seven rebounds.
The Bears made 23-59 (.390) from the field and 6-12 (.500) from the free-throw line, while the Falcons went 19-56 (.339) from the field and 12-13 (.923) from the free-throw line. Concordia outrebunded UW-RF 40-38.
The Bears go to 1-0 on the season and will host Bethany Lutheran on Sunday, Nov. 20th at 6:00 in the Gangelhoff Center.
