Bears sweep Minnesota Crookston, improve to 10-0 in NSIC

Juniors Jessica Lucia and Kelsey Kyro led #5 Concordia University (20-4, 10-0 NSIC) past Minnesota Crookston (7-15, 1-9 NSIC) in three games, 30-13, 30-14, 30-25 on Friday evening at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Lucia recorded another double-double with 18 kills and 13 digs while hitting .552, and Kyro led the team hitting a scorching .636 with 15 kills in just 22 total attacks with only one error. Kyro recorded three total blocks, one solo, while Lucia added a pair.

Senior setter Cailin Terhaar resumes her quest at the NCAA DII career assists-per-game mark, as she recorded 54 assists in three games (18 assists/game). She is now averaging 14.72 assists per game on the season, which brings her career average up to 13.51 - just shy of the NCAA record of 13.52. Terhaar also led the team to a .461 hitting pct. - just shy of the season-high .465 against Winona State.

Defensively, the Bears were led by junior Megan Graham's 14 digs. Graham also baffled the Golden Eagles with her four sharp service aces. Sophomore Monica McNamara contributed four total blocks, with Terhaar pitching in three.

Senior Valerie Olson smashed 13 kills with a .400 hitting pct. while posting three total blocks in the win.

The Bears outblocked the Golden Eagles 10-2 in the game and held them to a .030 team hitting pct. with just 25 kills as a team.

Concordia hit above .500 in each of the first two games, as they opened the match by hitting .533 in the first game before upping that to .581 in game two.
