Junior goalkeeper Kara Gamboni notched her fifth shutout of the season as the Golden Bears (5-5) defeated NCC rival St. Cloud State (5-4) 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Concordia Field.

Gamboni, who has shutout the opposing team in each of the Bears' five wins this season, recorded eight saves and faced 24 shots from an aggressive Huskie attack. Senior defender Lyndsey Gagas was busy as well, thwarting Huskie attempts all afternoon.

But the bears were just as aggressive, firing eight shots of their own upon SCSU goalkeeper Daneen Bergquist. in the 28th minute of play, sophomore Rachel Vitense drilled a shot from the center of the box over the hand of Bergquist right into the back of the net to give the Bears a lead that Gamboni would preserve for the remainder of play. Gagas and senior Angie Rockney assisted the goal, which was Vitense's second of the year.

The bears return to Concordia Field tomorrow when they play host to another NCC foe, North Dakota, at 1:00 p.m.
