The Bears started the 2004 season with a 3-0 (30-16, 30-23, 30-23) win over the University of South Dakota. They followed that with a sweep of North Dakota 3-0 (30-23. 30-20, 30-25) at the Northern Extreme Volleyball Tournament in Grand Forks.
Against South Dakota,
 Val Olson led Concordia with 13 kills and a .309 hitting percentage.
Jessica Lucia had nine kills and a .529 hitting percentage.
Cailin Terhaar had 38 assists in the match.
In the second game, Concordia defeated the host, the University of North Dakota, 3-0 . Val Olson again led the Bears with 14 kills and a .419 hitting percentage.
Joy Wubben added 11 kills.
Kelsey k\Kyro had a career-high 8 blocks in the game, and Terhaar had 43 set assists.
The bears will play Chadron State and the Colorado School of Mines in the second day of action at the Northern Extreme Volleyball Tournament.
