Josh Smith ran Saturday's 4-mile race in a school record time of 21:15.0, a 5:19/mile pace at the 2012 All-American Invitational hosted by Luther College. He placed seventh out of 131 men's finishers, and was the fifth collegiate runner and the number one freshman.

Smith's record time beat a 17-year old Concordia record previously held by Alex Payne. It also established a new Concordia course record on the Luther College course.

He helped the men's team finish seventh out of a strong eight-team field including four regionally-ranked teams along with another ranked 8th-nationally.
