Concordia freshman Erica Young had an excellent performance at the Tom Cat Open while competing in three events. The highlight of her performance was a 5.06m distance in the long jump to finish second out of 12 competitors. She also finished fifth out of 21 in the 200m dash (26.97) among 21 racers and was the second leg of the 4x400m relay team that took third out of five (4:12.39).

Although the meet was held during outdoor season, it was an indoor event as outdoor facilities in the area were not ready for competition due to winter weather conditions. Young's time in the 200m topped her indoor season personal record by over a half second while her 5.06m distance in the long jump was just 0.02 off her indoor PR and was further than her 4.58m PR in the outdoor season.
