The league’s third leading scorer and distributor averaged 20.5 points and 6.0 assists as the Golden Bears picked up an NSIC split over the weekend. He also continued his torrid free throw shooting by making 18-of-20 at the stripe and has now made 56 of his last 59 foul shots spanning eight games, making 85.2% (115-135) on the season.
On Friday, VanPelt scored 21 points with seven assists and held NSIC scoring leader Cameron McCaffrey to just 3-of-11 shooting for 14 points, nearly seven below his average.
On Saturday, VanPelt was clutch at the line down the stretch helping Concordia to a win over Wayne State, making 12-of-12 at the line finishing with 20 points and five assists.
He’s scored 20-plus points in three straight games and 11 times overall, and in eight of those games dished out five or more assists as well. He also had a 3-to-1 assist-turnover ratio for the weekend.
