Sophomore forward Anika Whiting continues to emerge as one of the top players in the league, leading the Golden Bears to a pair of road wins at nationally-ranked opponents last weekend with back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds along with 4.0 steals.
On Friday in a 56-46 win at #19 Wayne State, Whiting had 18 points, 11 rebounds and three steals while shooting 75.0% (6-8) from the field and 6-of-6 at the line. On Saturday in a 70-61 win at #5 Augustana, Whiting had 17 points, 12 rebounds, five steals, two assists and a block. She played all but six minutes in the two wins, shot 54.5% (12-22) from the floor and 91.7% (11-12) at the line.
The league's second-ranked scorer is averaging 19.2 overall and 20.3 in conference play while ranking highly in rebounds (7.7), blocks (1.6), field goal percentage (54.4) and free throw percentage (81.5) while playing 35.0 minutes per game in NSIC games.
She's scored 15-plus in every game this season and pulled down 6-plus rebounds in all but one game.
