Matt Spier continued his exceptional play by shooting the top third round at the MWSU Central Region Invitational at St. Joseph Country Club. Spier was two strokes under par, shooting a 69 as the only player out of 100 to shoot under par in the third and final round. Spier’s round helped the Golden Bears move past three teams to take 12th out of 20 at the Central Region crossover. The squad shot its second lowest round of the year, a 301, to finish with a 919 team score for the three rounds.

Spier’s round of 69 was the top score posted by an individual this season for Concordia as he becomes the fourth player in team history to shoot a sub-70 round, joining Nick Jarrett (2007-11), John Potter (Woodbury, Minn.) (2009-present) and Alex Timm (2007-12).

It also keeps his active streak of sub-80 rounds in tact, pushing it to 11-for-11 in the fall season. He's ranked fifth in the NSIC in lowest scoring average, and fourth among golfers with at least 10 rounds, averaging 75.7 thru 11 rounds.
