Concordia's leading scorer averaged 25.0 points per game over the weekend while shooting 56.7% (17-30) from the floor and 87.5% (14-16) at the stripe, while also connecting on two-of-three from downtown. On Friday in a two-point, last-second loss to Winona State, VanPelt scored 22 points, had four rebounds, three assists and two steals while shooting 8-14 from the floor and 5-6 from the stripe. On Saturday in a one-point loss to Upper Iowa, he scored a season-high 28 points on 9-16 shooting including 9-10 free throw shooting, also dishing out four assists.
On the year, VanPelt is second in the league in scoring with 19.3 points per game and is just two total points off the league lead pace. His 3.29 assists per game also ranks ninth, his 81.5% free throw shooting is 15th and he leads the league with 33.6 minutes per game.
In three Northern Sun conference contests, VanPelt has averaged 23.3 points per game.
