ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul track and field teams took advantage of competing on their home track as they finished with 20 top-5 finishes on the day. The women's team came away with 14 top -5 finishes while the men finished with six top-5 finishes.
The quartet of
Gloria Williams,
Erika Shady,
Erica Young, and
Kalle Burney teamed up to not only place first in the 4x100 relay but also set a new outdoor season record with a time of 47.77.
The four members of the 4x100 relay team did not stop there as they each added multiple top-5 finishes to their day. Kalle Burney added three more top-3 finishes including breaking the outdoor record in the high jump as she cleared 5'5"which was good for third place. She won the 100 meter hurdles and then placed second in the 200 meter dash.
Erika Shady came away with added two more top-5 finishes as she placed third in the 200 meter dash and fourth in the 100 meter dash.
Erica Young also added two more top-5 finishes placing second in the 100 meter hurdles. She would place fourth in the long jump with a distance of 17'1.25".
Gloria Williams came away with a second place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.26.
The pole vaulting trio of
Marianna Kramer,
Gretchen Feilen and
Teghan Norman performed extremely well as they finished first, third, and fourth, respectively. Kramer cleared a height of 11'6.25", Feilen cleared 11'0.25" and Norman cleared 10'6.25".
Hanna Gustafson came away with a first place finish in the shot put with a throw of 42'9".
Benjamin Allen came away with a second place finish on the men's side in the 800 meter run finishing with a time of 1:56.04.
Tyler Hudson,
Cole Oslin and
Peyton Holmes placed first, third, and fifth, respectively in the 5000 meter run. Hudson finished with time of 15:37.06, Oslin finished at 15:40.08 and Holmes finished with a time of 15:57.03. Hudson passed the leader with about 50 meters left in the race to take first place.
The 4x100 meter relay team of
Jonathan Johnson,
Andrew Leck,
Matthew Marrin,
Antony Odera placed second in the relay with a time of 43.17 finishing less than a second behind Hamline's first place finish.
Jonathan Johnson and
Antony Odera jumped well in the long jump finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Johnson's longest jump was 22'1.5" and Odera's longest was 21'8.75".
Tyler Naumowicz wrapped up the top-5 finishes on the men's side with a second place finish in the 110 meter hurdles. He finished with a time of 15.83.
Next weekend Concordia travels to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays on Friday and Saturday. They will then participate in the Drake Alternative in St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday. They will wrap up their weekend in Mankato, Minn. for the NSIC Multi-Event Championships on Sunday and Monday.
